After retiring from the military, Justin transitioned his focus to veteran advocacy and education. As a charter member of the Student Veterans of America chapter at his college, he worked tirelessly to ensure veterans received the benefits and representation they so deserved. His efforts, in connection with the IBIS Friends of Veterans organization and others, helped raise nearly $10 million for veterans in need.
During his Master of Business Administration (MBA) program, Justin provided tutoring and academic support to struggling student veterans. While pursuing his doctorate, his analytical research exposed discrepancies in housing allowance rates for student veterans. His detailed report, "Current Allotment Discrepancies in Certain Locations Reflecting Unusually Dynamic Fluctuations in the Housing Market," was presented to then Secretary of Veterans Affairs Denis McDonough, Deputy Secretary Donald Remy, and Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz from the House Committee on Appropriations (D-FL 25th District). The report spearheaded an increase of nearly $1,000 per month for student veterans in 28 housing areas across the United States. Justin later earned the Department of Veterans Affairs Commendation Award in 2023 for assisting veterans struggling in their transition from military to civilian life.
