The People’s Agenda

35 Forums. 35 Counties. 35 Days

Our Voices. Our Future.

The People’s Agenda is a district-wide commitment to restoring representation by putting the priorities of the people, not special interests, at the center of policymaking in Michigan’s 1st Congressional District. For 35 consecutive days after the election, we will host 35 open public forums across 35 counties, ensuring that every community has direct access to shaping the agenda we take to Washington, DC. This initiative is grounded in a simple principle: the people of this District deserve to be heard, and their concerns deserve immediate attention.

Each forum is designed as a structured, solutions-oriented dialogue built on a three-step process:

Step One:

Clearly define the problem statement by identifying the specific concern you have.

Step Two:

Propose practical, actionable solutions to that concern.

Step Three:

Identify credible research and supporting information that demonstrates a broad-based impact, targeting solutions that meet a 70 percent threshold for improving the lives of people across our District.

This approach ensures that the policies we advance are not only responsive but also rooted in evidence and capable of generating bipartisan support. A standardized submission template for this process will be made available to participants once the forum dates are announced.

Upon completion of all 35 forums, our team will conduct a rigorous qualitative analysis of the collected data. Using thematic coding methods, we will identify patterns, frequency, and convergence across communities to determine the top 20 issues facing Michigan’s 1st Congressional District. This process ensures that the agenda is not shaped by isolated voices but by consistent, recurring concerns expressed throughout the District.

Once the top 20 issues are identified, they will be published publicly, and constituents will be invited to participate in the next phase, prioritization. Through an open voting process, individuals across the District will select the five issues they believe are most critical. After narrowing the list to five, a final round of voting, supported by quantitative analysis, will determine the top three issues that will define our legislative agenda in Washington, DC.

This process is designed to do more than gather input; it is designed to create accountability. By directly involving the people in identifying, refining, and selecting the priorities that will guide representation, this initiative ensures that our priorities remain aligned with the District's will. This plan provides a clear, transparent framework for constituents to measure performance and hold us accountable for delivering results.

The People’s Agenda is not a campaign tactic; it is a governing philosophy. It is a commitment to listen first, act with purpose, and deliver solutions that reflect the collective voice of the people of Michigan’s 1st District. Our Voices. Our Future.
