Justin Michal, a Grayling native and veteran, has announced his candidacy for the United States House of Representatives for Michigan’s First Congressional District. His announcement came Feb. 22 at the Michigan Republican Party Convention in Detroit.

Michal said he is running for Congress because of his leadership skills rooted in service, accountability and a deep commitment to the people of Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.

“I have spent my life serving others, from my time in the military to my work advocating for fairness, transparency and solutions that bring people together,” said Michal. “This campaign is about focusing on what unites us, our values, our families and our communities so we can bridge the divides and build a stronger future together.”

Michal said his visions for Michigan’s First Congressional District include promoting sustainable job growth, strengthening local industries, improving infrastructure, expanding healthcare access, promoting environmental protection, investing in education and workforce development, bridging the digital divide and building trust “one conversation at a time.”

“I believe in leadership that listens, that’s why I’m excited to meet with families, business owners, farmers and local leaders across the district to hear their concerns, share ideas and work toward real solutions,” Michal said.
